Lesson 6 – Resting Pose (Relaxing in the Park)

Parents:
Please read the following instructions to your child while he/she practices the resting pose.
Tip: It’s helpful to use a calm voice and slow pace

Instructions:

  • Find a quiet and comfortable spot.
  • Lie on your back with your arms and legs stretched out.
  • Breathe and rest. Pretend you are relaxing in the park.
  • Close your eyes and imagine the sights and sounds in the park. (e.g. green grass, colourful flowers, tall trees, sun shining, birds chirping, children playing, dogs barking, people talking… etc.)
  • Say “I am resting.”

While you hold the resting pose, practice the Extended Exhale technique from Lesson 1. Hold your pose for 3-5 breaths before you release.
Parents: Please count with your child.

Practice this pose once a day or as many times as you wish.

Challenge 1: Try to hold your pose still without moving any part of your body. Let your body and mind be as quiet and still as possible.

Challenge 2: Try to hold your pose for more than 5 breaths. How many breaths can you count?
