Lesson 7 – Caterpillar Pose

Parents:
Please read the following instructions to your child while he/she practices the resting pose.
Tip: It’s helpful to use a calm voice and slow pace
Instructions:
- Find a comfortable spot
- Lie on your tummy with head facing down (think the opposite of resting pose)
- Gently rest your forehead on the floor/mat/carpet
- Keep your body straight and tall.
- Relax your arms and shoulders
- Palms face up and next to your thighs
- Take a deep breathe in, lift your head and shoulders at the same time
- Exhale and say “I am a caterpillar.”

While you hold the caterpillar pose, practice the Extended Exhale technique from Lesson 1. Hold your pose for at least one breath before you release.
Parents: Please count with your child.
Practice this pose once a day or as many times as you wish.
Modification: Practice this pose without lifting your head or shoulders. Keep your forehead rested and relaxed. Breathe and count.
Challenge 1: Lift your legs at the same time you lift your head and shoulders.
Challenge 2: Try to hold your pose for as many breaths as you can
